World bamboo day celebrated in Imphal

Bamboo Development and Promotion Organization (BADPO) along with  Bamboo Forum of India (BFI) celebrated World Bamboo Day  today at GM hall, Imphal. Minister Y Khemchand attended the event as the chief guest along with various officials. In the function the minister said that if bamboo's potential is properly realised and utilized in the right and proper ways, it can open new employment opportunities for the unemployed youths in the state. Furthermore, he mentioned that bamboo plants can play a vital role in keeping our surrounding environment safe and secure and urged to protect and to plant more of this grass species.
