CM N Biren Flags off New Fire Fighting Vehicles for 10 Districts, today.
CM N Biren Singh today flagged off 11 newly procured Fire Fighting Vehicles and equipments of Manipur Fire Service Department from Khuman Lampak main gate parking to different district headquarters of the State. The fire trucks are procured for Imphal, Thoubal, Moreh, Bishnupur, Tamenglong, Jiribam, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul and Churachandpur.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the launching
and demonstration ceremony, the Chief Minister made appeals to the people and
emphasized the importance of wide by-lanes and proper local roads to ensure smooth
passage of emergency vehicles and encouraged every locality to maintain water
ponds for effective fire response.
He mentioned that the
Government cannot act alone and urged the people get actively involved regarding
this matter. Furthermore highlighting modern climate change challenges, such as
lack of water due to deforestation, drying up of rivers and disappearance of
water bodies like ponds and lakes in the State.
He stated that around
64 vehicles are currently in service in State Fire Service across the state and
that 11 new vehicles with new and sophisticated modern equipment are an addition
to that force, He further encouraged the
firemen to continue their vigilant service for the people.
The ceremony was also attended by Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, Ministers Shri L. Susindro Singh Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, Shri H. Dingo Singh, MLAs Shri K. Robindro Singh and L Rameshwor Meetei, DGP Shri P Doungel, ADGP Shri Clay Khongsai among others.
