Moirang police and CDO Bishnupur caught 3250 kgs of poppy straw

Today at about 8:30 am, teams of CDO BPR along with MGR PS team while conducting regular frisking and checking at Ngangkhalawai near Electricity Ofice, Moirang along Tiddim road NH-2 under the command of Sub. Y. Shakti Shen Singh, OC CDO/BPR and under the supervision of Roni Mayengbam, MPS Addl. SP (Ops) Bishnupur and Satyam Takhellambam,MPS Addl. SP (LO) and overal guidance of N. Herojit Meetei, IPS SP-Bishnupur, have detained one TATA Truck 12-wheel LPT3118TC bearing regn. No. R19GB-5912 coming from CC Pur toward Imphal side loaded with pineapple sacks. On thorough checking the vehicle, 218 nos of  white  sacks  suspected to contain"POPPY STRAW" (which are used in manufacturing drugs) weighing 3250 kg approx. was found concealed beside the pineaple bags of the said TATA Truck. 

On preliminary verification, the driver identified himself as Mr. Banshi Lal (19) s/o Bhaipa Ram of Jodhpur,Kaliyanpur District, Rajasthan revealed that the sacks suspected to contain poppy straw  are to be delivered/ transport to Rajasthan via Guwahati for further use of the substances.

The substances suspected to contain poppy straws in 218 no. white sacks were seized in presence of civil witness of the area by observing necessary formalities at 8:40 am and the driver was arrested on the spot. Hence, the arrested person along with the seized items including the truck are being handed over to MGR PS for taking further necessary legal action.
