Intensified diarrhoea control fortnight campaign begins in Thoubal


Deputy  Commissioner Thoubal, A.Subhash Singh, IAS, today launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) in  the District. The program is organised by District Health Society Thoubal. IDCF consists of a set of activities to be implemented in an intensified manner for prevention and control of death due to dehydration from diarrhoea. This year the theme is "Zero Child Death due to Diarrhoea ".

Speaking at the function, Deputy Commissioner said that Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight is organised with the objective to give awarness to the people about sanitation to prevent from diseases. He urged all Healthcare workers to give/share knowledge to the parents/guardians about homemade ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution)  as diarrhoea is a common illness which affects people of all age group.

CMO Dr.Y.Nokul in his speech said IDCF is set up with the aim to reduce mortality and malnutrition due to diarrhoea with the usage of ORS solution. He said ASHA workers should give awarness to the parents about the preparation and use of homemade ORS solution which is very easy to prepare.

As part of the program zinc tablets and ORS packets were distributed to the ASHA workers. A.Anilkumar MES,ZEO Thoubal, Dr.Ch.Memcha MS. District Hospital,Thoubal and Th.Suranjoy DPO,ICDS cell were the other presidium members.
