Assam Rifles foils cross border smuggling

Modi Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) foiled cross border smuggling at New Songjang village, Chandel district on 02 July.

Based of specific input, troops of Assam Rifles established check post and intercepted two individuals moving suspiciously on a motorcycle. On being challenged, the individuals escaped by speeding up their bike. However, troops of Assam Rifles succeeded in snatching the suspicious package from pillion rider. On thorough checking of the package, 1 lakhs WY Tablets were recovered. The seized contrabands were assessed to be worth Rs 5 Crores. The recovered items were handed over to Chandel Police for further investigation.
