Training-cum-awareness programme for farmers at Keipham village Sugnu


The Diocesan Social Service Society, DSSS, Mantripikhri under its Manos Unidas Project organized a training-cum-awareness programme for farmers at Keipham village, Sugnu today. During the programme, Dr. Kangjam Sonamani Singh, CTO (SWCE), ICAR-KVK, Chandel spoke on the various aspects of resource conservation suitable in the climes of the district. He urged the farmer participants to adopt farming technologies that characterizes enhanced crop and livestock production systems through application of improved production and risk management technologies to achieve long-term higher farm productivity and farm incomes under climate variabilities. He stressed the need to embrace natural resource conservation methodologies with utmost sincerity. 

He motivated the farmers to adopt simple yet smart water harvesting technologies so as to improve the crop output and productivity, field efficiency and farm profitability. He also appealed to the farmers to adopt soil fertility enhancing practices and  inculcate the habit of reusing, reducing and recycling through mulching and vermicomposting. 

He spoke in detail about the site specific technology packages on farmers’ fields for adapting to the present climate risks. He deliberated on the different aspects of conservation agricultural practices to build organic carbon and to build congenial environment for plant growth and manure management. The programme was attended by 68 farmers.
