Felicitated WRD Minister

The Liangmai Katinah Ruangdi (LKRD) warmly felicitated Minister for Water Resources and Relief & Disaster Management Awangbow Newmai at the Community Centre, PTS Malviya in New Delhi on Friday.  Speaking at the event, Minister Awangbow Newmai appreciated the LKRD team and presented the students' body with a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh. He encouraged the youth, stressing that they are equal and not less than anyone else. He dwelled at length on the history of the Nagas, the sufferings endured by their forefathers and his personal journey of overcoming the odds. He urged them to be focussed and work hard on their studies, to excel in whatever they do whether working in the private or central service sector. On the occasion organised by the LKRD, a students' body of the Liangmai community in the national capital, the Minister launched a sponsorship programme for students under the theme, "Late Namrang's Merit Scholarship", which is created with an aim to provide academic opportunities for aspiring candidates in SSC and Banking examinations for a period of five years.
