A Chinese Pangolin was rescued


A Chinese Pangolin (Manis Pentadctyla) was rescued by a person identified as Waikhom Sunil @ Babu Singh on the auspicious day of June 18 and was handed to UWLPC Manipur.

Observing the condition of the animal, it was found that the species was not in good condition and was further handed over to the Veterinary Hospital of Manipur Zoological Garden. It was also found out that the species was in protection under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 Schedule 1. The animal species is used as a traditional medicine and food trade for China and Vietnam at high cost and eventually lead to the lessening of number of the animal species. It is sais that after observation the species will be released to a proper place.
